The objective of the National Research Foundation (NRF) is to support and promote research through funding, human resource development and the provision of the necessary research facilities, in order to facilitate the creation of knowledge, innovation and development in all fields of the natural and social sciences, humanities and technology. In so doing, it contributes to the improvement of the quality of life of all the people of the country. The organisation was established in 1999 as a result of The NRF Act.

The Economic Policy Research Institute is a non-governmental organization located in Cape Town, South Africa. EPRI supports the development of economic policy options that promote economic growth and social equity in South Africa. The institute is committed to analysing South Africa's socio-economic situation and constructing sustainable economic polices that foster job creation and redistribution while supporting sustained economic
growth and macroeconomic stability.

The Development Policy Research Unit is part of the School of Economics at the University of Cape Town. We conduct research in the fields of labour markets, poverty and inequality. Their mission is to undertake internationally recognised research that contributes to the quality and scope of public policy for industrial development in South and Southern Africa.

CPS is an independent policy research institution, committed to producing original and thought-provoking research on South Africa's, and the rest of Africa's, policies, governance, and democratisation challenges.

CDE is an independent policy research and advocacy organisation focusing on critical national development issues and their relationship to economic growth and democratic consolidation. Through examining South African realities, and looking at international experience where appropriate, CDE formulates practical policy proposals outlining ways in which South Africa can tackle major social and economic challenges.
