The topic of women's empowerment gained its first momentum in the mid-1970s with the adoption of the resolution 31/136 of the United Nations Decade for Women (United Nations, 1976). The resolution called upon governments to ensure equal and effective participation of women in the political, economic, social and cultural life. Its adoption paved way for other resolutions and international declarations, including the United Nations (UN) Convention on Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) in 1979, and the 1995 Beijing Platform for Action (BPfA).
The Kenya Youth Development Policy (KYDP) 2019 seeks to provide an opportunity for improving the quality of life for the youth in Kenya through their empowerment and participation in economic and democratic processes as well as in community and civic affairs. It also advocates for creation of a supportive social, cultural, economic and political environment that will empower the youth to be active actors in national development. The Policy therefore provides a detailed account of various aspects, key of which are highlighted here under.
The Republic of Kenya covers approximately 580,367 square kilometres. IPC occupies a unique position in the field of patient safety and quality universal health coverage (UHC) because it is relevant to health workers and patients at every health care encounter.
Antimicrobial resistance is a global public health concern that has threatened the very core of modern medicine and effective response to infectious diseases. Effective antimicrobial drugs are vital for both preventive and curative measures, protecting patients from potentially fatal diseases and ensuring that treatment, complex procedures, such as surgery and chemotherapy, can be provided at low risk. The misuse and overuse of these antimicrobials in human medicine and food production have put every nation at risk considering that very few antimicrobial agents are in development.

This survey was conducted in April-May 2021 to assess health facilities service capacity to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as maintain essential health services. It was administered in two modules that were developed by WHO and subjected to a process of country adaptation to fit in the Kenyan context. The two modules assessed COVID-19 case management and continuity of essential health services with both having a COVID-19 vaccines subunit.
The Constitution of Kenya guarantees all citizens the right to quality healthcare. This includes reproductive health of the highest attainable standards and access to emergency medical treatment amongst other rights.
